Mystery hairline before and after photo. 4000 grafts, about 1.5 years post op.

Please comment on the results and rate from 1 to 10, with 10 being the BEST you have seen. Not necessary to name doctor unless you really want to.

I too would like to know what it looks like from the top. The hairline is great work IMO. Very natural.

An 8 out of 10 from me.

I like it. The before and after shows a big difference.

4000 grafts ? It's probably safe to assume this is a strip. He's probably not a patient of gho, dhi or woods since these guys only do fue, although I must say his high hairline looks familiar, similar to some of woods' high hairline pix.

Nice transition!

The hairline looks very diffused and natural.
Hard to judge the placement of the hl or the shape.
Would be good to see some pix outside in the sun from different angles and some wide shots to see the overall shape of the head and the transition from the HT to his side and donor hair.

Have to give the hairline a solid 9 even if not as dense as some may like.
(But very good, esp. considering the before pix.)

As for the hl placement maybe a little lower scoreÖ8.
(Although a lower hairline may be unwise considering his donor hair type and
degree of hairloss.)

The side hair looks a bit receded now compared to the new hairline.
But maybe that is unavoidable.

Why no pix of the top, back, side or 3/4 angles?

The gentleman should be very pleased with his hairline and Iíll bet he could even take the effect further with another procedure if he wishes.

Overall, excellent hairline work, IMO.
Hoping itís Dr. A.!

I think this guy may have no hair in the crown and the surgeon used this as a good angle. All the same 9 / 10 for technique in my view.

marco:

It comes down to largely a "numbers" game for most of us who are losing our hair and opt for transplants. Since donor hair is usually in short supply, which would you choose? - a thick hairline with thinning crown or a thick crown with non-existent hairline? Those people on this forum who are young and thinning, and thinking about transplants now are going to get a very rude awakening if they continue to recede and have to go back for more and more "catch up" sessions - been there, done that. Food for thought...

Everything depends on type of donor hair and effectiveness of the meds, no?

Maybe I'm too optimistic but IMO a younger guy who spaces his out his procedures to "keep up with his hairloss" has a better shot than ever of a satisfactory (or better), consistent look over time. Especially with meds, FUE and BHT.

I chose to focus on my reseeded temples back in 1993 or so.
Then over the years moved on to fill in the hairline and behind the hairline as needed .
Now, most all FUs go on top and in back as needed except touch-ups or very small adjustments (not lowering) of the hairline.

When I started HT years ago, I had very minimal loss in back and used meds to slow down the hl until the time came to start augmenting the hair I have left back there. Currently, my frontal is thicker than the back although I feel I have good coverage there for now.

Hair peace. Bed peace.

His temples and the hair from the temple to the sideburns is way too receded , and it looks kind of like a toupee as a result

Each person has to be veiwed and the hairline determined depending on both his hair loss as well as his aspirations.
Like in this case, the patient wants as dense a coverage as possible even at the cost of having to leave the temples untouched.
What a patient wants is often as important, if not more, than what the doctor wants to give. The doctor acts more as a guide and facilitator helping in making the patient avoid the pitfalls.

Dr. A,

I am sure that the idea here is to be as critical as possible and tease out the best that could be done in HT.

I can't talk for the others but I am sure that everyone appreciates that this work is still amazing compared with the general quality of HT only a few years back and is great compared with the majority of current work. I am sure that all of us appreciate the time that you and other surgeons spend on the web site. This almost goes without saying.

Can you detail this work? How many sessions? donor extraction issues and also how long it took to see the full result. Thanks in advance.

The fact that this NW6ish patient has only received 4000 grafts is a testament to the coverage that he currently has and is about as well as can be expected in this case.(Only 4000 grafts is ironic, considering that sessions in previous years were deemed large around the 2000 level) To acheive NW1 status, he will have to return for another pass, if the consumer feels it is warranted, although for a megasession such as this, he has certainly progressed dramatically IMO.

Ciao!

Where was all the criticism before we knew who the doctor was?
Interesting.
The hairline work is excellent, top notch, IMO.
The transformation is amazing.
Would like to see the top and back for overall effect.

One more pass on him and Dr. A. can expect a flood of westerners to his practice.
Get ready doc! Jai.

Hope there is a Starbucks and Gap nearby! Lol.

Hair peace. Bed peace.

Finally, some decent hairline photos from Dr. A. I think this is proof that Dr. A is capable of producing top notch hairline results too just like the American doctors.
