"Dr. A- 2500 grafts - 12 months on pictures"
Sun Oct-23-05 02:24 PM by V

Some pictures of a patient who had got 2500 FU grafts placed, by strip method, slightly more than 1 year before.

This was a repair transplant procedure.
The right side hairline was repaired using chest hair.
Dr. A will discuss some specifics of the case shortly.

Thank you for the pictures.
I like the way the pictures have been taken to show the result from different sides and different hairstyles as well as the wet shots.

Great improvement there. Keep up the good work.
Does the patient want more work?
What is the crown like? I know you said no work was done there. Is that what he is planning to address next?

9000 grafts till now. All by Dr. A .
They include strip FUHT, FUE, body hair grafts and facial hair grafts.
Hoping to accomplish full hair restoration.

The wet pic especially shows the naturalness of this hairline. Also, the yield has to be very high to show this amount of coverage. On the other hand, it is the result of a strip so rather disappointing for FUE enthusiasts (that's most of us I think).

I would argue that this guy has a very high calibre hair diameter and that this is a major reason for the excelent result.

Dear forum readers,
This patient was a repair case with plug grafts placed in the crown and the back half of the top.

As I have mentioned before, repair of incorrectly performed HTs is a challenging field and need detailed patient education.

The current patient had improperly angled plugs in the crown. However, like most patients, he felt reluctant to get the plugs extracted during the repair.
That was till we were able to demonstrate photographically the problem the improperly angled grafts were going to create in his repair.

I would like to share the same pics with forum readers.
I hope it may be helpful to some who plan their repair procedure in future.

Regards,
Dr.A

Improperly angled grafts tend to spoil the natural direction of the hair.
That reduces the coverage that can be acheived with a particular number of grafts.

The patient could figure that something was wrong with the crown area but could not pinpoint it.

Even though he had got grafts transplanted, in the crown, from elsewhere, the hair in them were always standing rather than being in a more acute level.
The following pics illustrate what I mean.

Pic of the crown

Pic of the crown when the hair were forcibly placed in a more acute fashion.

To further help him understand the problems that inappropriately "standing" grafts can create, we had him comb his hair after wetting them.
The wet nature of the hair will help ascertain what the look will be if styling gels were applied.
As can be seen in the following pics, no amounts of efforts are helpful.
Just a couple of wrongly directed grafts ensure that the hair look odd.

After seeing these pictures the patient understood the importance of having those wrongly directed grafts removed.
Of course, the hair obtained from those grafts will also be re transplanted at a more appropriate direction and angles.

Dr.A

Thanks Dr. A.
Its information like this that helps a lot of readers.
Not that I need any repair HT, but I think if doctors were to spend some time educating people on the nuances of what goes into a quality hair restoration, its ultimately for the good of all.

Mostly I see doctors indulging in politicising the forums. I think that is time and efforts wasted.

I am sure that most of us did not realize just what an impact such small changes in angle can have. Thanks for the pics they are truely informative.

Thats some great results Dr. A... The patient has a very natural hairline and grafts placement looks very natural... Not only that the illusion of density with just 2500 grafts is just great(I am saying illusion cause 2500 is not that big a number with the quality/type of patient's hair)...

The smile on the face of the patient in the after pic just about tells you a lot... Great work Dr. A... Two thumbs up...
