"2500 grafts - Dr. A patient pictures"

Following are some pictures of a patient who opted for 2500 FUHT grafts in the front areas of the scalp.
He visited us 1 year after his 2500 graft procedure for filling up the crown areas now.

I work for Dr. A's Clinic.
I am not a Physician.
My opinions need not be shared by Dr. Arvind Poswal.

the work itself is absolutely top notch, however this patient is so receded on the sides temples that the new hairline , being placed so far forward, well to me it looks a bit out of place, and somewhat like a toupee,
However, this also could be attributed to slight recession on the side by a casual observer
great job Dr A

Do you think the results may be because the person had good hair characteristics?

Nevertheless, great results. As they say - Top of the line.

Spendid results and a marked improvement. Especially considering the session size.(2500 grafts)
How many grafts are anticipated for the crown area, and will the second procedure be performed via FUHT, or FUSE? thx

Dear Eternal Hope,
The patient went for additional 2000 grafts by the strip FUHT method.
Forreasons of his own, he wishes not to go for FUSE/fue.

Dear Samyoung,
As I stated previously, in a different patient's pictures, the hair characteristics make a huge difference to the final outcome.

This patient has medium coarse hair. A person with fine straight hair will, likely, get less coverage for the same number of grafts.

That was an issue that was discussed at the initial HT session. It was one of the areas that the patient felt would not bother him too much.
However, this time round the recessions are being addressed.

The density is good, I think. Perhaps this hairline is too rounded for being so high. I think this is a design flaw. No offense to Dr. A, but I also think it may be a bit wiggy.

Dear Schiller,
It is my fault, partly, to have taken pictures with the hair combed back and up. However, the patient wears his hair differently and had planned his HT accordingly.
I have posted some pictures of his in his "other" hair style lower down in the thread.

V had not posted the sidecombed pictures earlier as it is not usually considered the "money shot".

Absolutely. Wigs, are generally without exit points from the scalp, whereas the extreme closeup hairline photos portray a natural exit/angulation and transition.
Hairstyles though, in itself are obviously a subjective matter and of personal preference.

oh, i wore a piece for a couple weeks, i guess it would be classified as a hair system, i don't know if there's a difference between a "hair system" and a "wig", you could not see my scalp with the one i wore, i'm sure it depends on the materials used etc., i just thought in general that wigs were so thick that you couldn't see the scalp through them. i'm glad to admit mistakes

scientist,
Poor communicae on my part. I meant to infer you were "absolutely right". Not "absolutely".
Wigs are generally much too abrupt, and without natural frontal transition.
The aforementioned patient has a much improved forelock and commendable transition zone. Much better than the before state...

Ciao!

for 2500 grafts total what do you want it to look like? i think it looks prett damned amazing.. if i were him i personally would be shaving it down.. i think the reason it look 'like a wig' as you say if because he has really coarse hair and its not dense packed, so you see gaps throughout.. if he were to shave it, i feel that the contrast between his vellous hair and his transplanted hairs ould be less and he would appear to be 'thinning' but it would look more natural and a guy of his age 'thinning' wouldnt be all to bad to be labeled as.. huge difference between thinning and balding..

but i mean with only 2500 grafts i think its pretty damn impressive.

To me it looks good. For 2500 grafts and no body hair added to soften the hairline, I think its great that he can comb his hair back and up.
Would like to see more pictures though.

is because the temples and sides ARE BADLY RECEDED

and the top transplant does not take this into account

nobody who has temples and receded sides like that naturally , would have such a full thick top in such a forward position

however as I said before , looks WAY BETTER than his hair did before, and some people might think he just has receding sides

Or, he could opt for around 10% finer body hair in the hair line to fill it up and give a true feathered look.
However, the patient does not wish any alteration in the hairline and wishes to go only for FUHT.

In response to Reply # 14

honestly, its not that bad, it looks a lot better then many HT i saw,

and i appreciate Dr. Arvind ...

and the hairline is good! maybe too perfect (too even) ... i don't know

i just have my problems with this standard look you get from a HT ...
(which is a lot worse from other Dr.s)

why noone fills up the sides ?
one can look a lot younger with full sides and covered temples

thats why i really like the idea of HT made hairline (and maybe also sides ... moving the sides more toward eyes)
combined with a hair system
( .. Dr. Arvind already mentioned this ...)

The patient's hair restoration is in no way complete.

When designing the hairtransplant, the doctor should take the patient's wishes into account too.

If those wishes are reasonable, but they differ from the HT surgeon's ideal preferences, I prefer to give them equal weightage. (After having explained the benefits and drawbacks of both the options).

In this patient, the hairline is made of only scalp donor hair. Ideally, I would prefer that there be a sprinkling of the finer body hair to create the true feathering look.
------------------------------------------

Anyway, the patient came this time for more HT and this time we have planned to construct the temple areas and fill in the crown.

When he came for his present HT, his hair were combed a different way.

Following is a picture of that hairstyle that he usually keeps.

In response to Reply # 33

Following are the markings for the temple reconstruction.
The temple line must stay parallel to the outer half of the eyebrow for the reconstructed temple to look natural.

The patient's hair loss had obliterated that line.

Dr. A

A bit of a change in hairstyle makes lots of difference.

Excellent results, even for coarse hair. I won't mind such a hairline any day.

1st session - 300 FUSE grafts by Dr. A.
Excellent yeild
1500 more grafts placed in my crown - April 06.

I like the results, especially the hairline.
I have the same dense hairline. Minus the recessions.
I will try posting some pictures.

1800 strip grafts in hairline in 2004.
HT by Dr. Arvind Poswal, whom I am very pleased to recommend.

Dr A, did you make use of your hyper-acute angulation method in the hairline and top of the head reconstruction ?

I apologize if I missed it, but did he suffer any shockloss in areas where there was pre-existing hair? (temporary or permanent?)
