"There is always hope - repair (Dr. A patient)"
Fri Aug-18-06 10:57 PM by HairSite

Its sad to see so many patients get substandard hair transplants even today.
The only saving grace is when the same patients undergo successful repair.

Still, I hope, these substandard HTs would stop.
Last year, this was the patient, one of the first that I saw when I joined Dr. A.
What I saw had disillusioned me to an extent that I thought of giving up on HTs.
However, seeing so many good results over the past 13 months, hope rekindled.
When I recently met the patient some days back, I saw what a expertly performed repair procedure can do for the patient.
Not just interms of the aesthetic appearance but in terms of the confidence of the personas a human being.

I would like to share some pictures with you.
These pictures show what the patient had recieved in 2004 in a clinic that professed to be a hair transplant centre.

Best regards,
Dr. Sangay C.B.
I have trained and work at Dr. A's clinic as a hair restoration surgeon.
However, my opinions and advise need not be shared by Dr. A.

I am always amazed when I see pictures like these. What kind of human being does this to another, just to make a few bucks. In all honesty, I could not disfigure someone for money. I would not be able to live with myself.

I am not a doctor, I am not a surgical tech, I am a hair transplant victim.

Please do everything in your power to help this poor man.

Taking advantage of someone like this is horrible. We just want to improve our appearance and be more attractive. Can you imagine how this man feels when he wakes up everyday?

what makes you think the DR thinks he did a bad job? for all you know he went to bed thinking nothing but good thoughts of how he helped improve a mans life...

often hair loss suffers become delusional, but dr's can be also...

That's the best quote I've ever read on this newsgroup. Most doctors, even when they perform a bad procedure that harms the patient, do not consider themselves to be incompetant or immoral. They simply blame their patients 'unrealistic expectations', 'failure to follow instructions', 'psychological problems' etc. Sound familiar? At best, the will assume they've had a little bad luck.

#10. "Repair - 700 grafts used"
In response to Reply # 0

It takes a lot of courage on part of a patient who has gone through a badly performed HT earlier, to proceed with a repair procedure, even after having done the research on the topic.
At heart, he fears a repeat of similar painful situation.
Therefore, it was doubly pleasant for us when the patient came for his review an year later and got another session performed in the previously untouched areas.

That, however, is a separate story.

His repair procedure, in 2005, was performed using 700 grafts, as well as excising some of the badly angled plugs.

..........and not outing this doctor really just makes you a part of the problem. You have stated previously you don't see value in belonging to the various hair transplant organisations, and I can see your point there, but not being proactive in highlighting peers practicing archaic methods in the year 2006 (or 2004) makes you appear as bottom feeders and using patients misfortune to generate fear and sell the benefits of your clinic.
This patient is fortunate to have ample donor hair and minimal loss to make a repair a very viable and satisfying experience however the next patient may not be so fortunate. Have the courage of your convictions - out the doctor.

Nice repair.
Just gores to show you MUST SEE SOME PATIENTS IN PERSON before going with a doc.

He has a nice head of hair. That old doc is lucky to be alive, IMO.

wow - that patient looks a ton better. it is amazing how a doctor (assuming they had actually gone to college) can do that to someone but even more so that it can be somewhat reversed. great job dr. A. I think one more pass would really put this patient over the top...

HT history - 5 procedures w/ Dr. Cole - 3 strip, 2 FIT totaling 8300+ grafts

Dear readers,
It is not in our hands to name the doctors.
However, we try to give representative data, like in this case, the doctor was a plastic surgeon.
The biggest mistake people rushing into HTs do is to fall for trappings.
We have seen laymen going for a HT just because the doctor is plastic surgeon or uses laser or works in a 5 star hospital.

Hopefully, this and similar posts should help casual readers take notice and research more deeply.

Dr. A
