"Schiller, BHT with Dr. A, 7 months post op"
Wed Dec-27-06 10:19 PM by HairSite

Schiller's 7 months post op results. BHT, 2139 grafts.

Pictures provided by Schiller, not Dr. Arvind's clinic.

Schiller's history can be found here
http://www.hairsite4.com/dc/dcboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=12&topic_id=38437&mode=full

Day 1
On day 1, a total of 412 grafts were extracted from the armpit, scalp, calf and chest. The aim is to use a combination of the scalp and the fine calf hair to recreate the temple and to break up the hairline. The armpit, pubic and chest hair will be transplanted in the area behind the flap where these thicker hair will be able to give more coverage without looking unnatural.

Day 2
A total of 785 grafts were extracted from the chest, armpit, head, legs and the pubic areas on Day 2. As before, the scalp and the leg hair were used for the hairline and the temple, whereas the remainder of the hair were mixed and transplanted into the area behind the flap.

Day 3
On Day 3, a total of 942 grafts were extracted from the chest, legs pubis and head. Most of the single hair BH grafts were paired while placing them in the recipient area behind the flap so as to have atleast 2 hair per recipient site.

Dr. A,

Dr. Cole has posted a study that shown much higher yield and more hair with about thirty BHT's per cm than with higher densities.

What densities (your best estimate) did Shiller have?

Do you think that perhaps having a first pass with 30 BHT's per square cm followed by another 30 in 12 months might result in better results in the long term, etc?

What approach based on your experience would be best at this point?

Any thoughts you have on the matter are appreciated, and if you dont feel speculating on prospective second or third passes is warranted yet based on available info is in order, I certainly understand. Thanks, B

Thanks for the comments and questions. I don't want to give any answers if I'm not sure. I hope Dr. A comes in on this soon. I can say that the density of the temples matches the sides, just as Dr. A said it would. Also, when I asked Dr. A if the temple points would be visible, he said that the donor hair was darker and would certainly show up a lot. He was right about that too. Finally, the donor BH at the temples is at least as long as the hair on my legs and chest and probably longer. It certainly has a significant cosmetic effect when I look at my face straight on. I hope Dr. A can give numbers for the grafts placed behind the flap. I have some idea about this, but it's based on memory, so I don't want to say right now.

I think you probably had about 1000 to 1200 put on the top. The new hairs on top look very natural, do you know how many were from body hair? They don't look in the least bit like body hair.

My HH donor is very limited because of past excesses. As far as I can remember, Dr. A used the few HHs he harvested in my hairline. I think the implated hair behind the flap is all BH. Again, I defer to Dr. A on this; he can give more detail.

I bet he put 1000-1200 up there. It's not bad considering it's only 7 month and it's body hair.

I think hairsite said very clearly that head hair was used for the temple and hairline, so I assume he only has bh behind the hairline.

Dear Forum readers and Schiller,
First of all, allow me to wish you all a Merry Christmas.

Details regarding Schiller's procedure:
The hairline and the temples were constructed/feathered using mostly the leg and the scalp hair. More scalp hair in the hairline and more of the leg hair in the temples.

The scalp area behind the previous flap consisted scar tissue and most of the hair used in that areas were derived from the armpits/axillary zones, pubic and chest areas.

Regards,
Dr. A.

Thanks for commenting Dr. A. I'm very happy with my results.

I'm sorry I can't remember how many grafts were placed behind the flap. Do you have that information? I know that you paired a lot, if not all, or those. I do remember you didn't charge to pair those grafts; thanks again for that.

I wanted to wait for the doctor to post before I thanked him, his colleagues and assistants for their professionalism, skill, kindness and patience.

Also, I am sorry that I failed to mention in past posts the wonderful time I had in India. I went north to Manali and traversed a high pass in the Himalayas, over to the Spiti Road. (Actually, we were only the second small group to go over that pass. But a willing guide and porters made the difference). I did things in India that I have never done and would never have tried. But that's one thing India and the Indians will show you--you've got to try, and you can do much more than you think you can. Thanks to all the wonderful people I met there. I hope to be back one day soon.
Schiller
