"Dr. Wong patient, 5147 grafts, 8 months"

Gentlemen,

The goal with this patient was to fill in the crown, add density to the top, and strengthen the hairline with a more refined design and density.

Remember to have the latest version of Flash to view the video.

The patient is seen on this link...

Looks like a definite improvement. Iím not overly impressed with the crown work though. Does he plan to schedule a second pass?

Ok. Credit for producing a quality video. I have to admit that Iím not thrilled with the naturalness though. If I had to rank it I would say 85% of our 100. Maybe Iím being too judgemental because I know that it's a HT.

Seemor,

If this is 85% then please show me a 100% with the same # of grafts over such a large area in such detail. We're not talking "wow" factor but naturalness.

Again pretty impressive natural looking results. Could have maybed used another 2k grafts to thicken things up but still looks good.

The question is - when (if ever) is H&W going to start doing FUE? Joe - are you guys still thinking about it at all or is it not even in the ballgame at this point?

Helpmeout,

I don't really know how many were used in the crown. Most likely in the 1800 graft range.

Ender,

Is your name from the Orson Scott Card book? I've always meant to ask you that.

Yeah, the patient could use some more in the crown for absolute fullness in the coverage but he is happy where he is as he very well should be. This is 5147 grafts in one session. If he did want the 2000 grafts and could have had that much extra in one session then he would be in the "rare" category of patients that can get 7000 plus in one session. No, 5000 is a hefty number for one strip procedure and if he wants #2 then he's easily able to do so and to be done for good.

As far as us doing FUE, well, I don't want to get into a big debate about it but FUE does not provide what we want for our patients. We have a specific philosophy that has driven the refinement of our procedures for roughly ten years and FUE does not provide a means to that goal. Simple as that. Some feel differently and that is fine as there are other clinics that offer it. Strip is what we do and we feel we do it the best.

kgill,

Thank you for the compliments on Dr. Wong's work. You know, the great thing about FUE is that it does indeed give people a choice and I have always been a big believer in having options and understanding what they mean however I don't think for a minute we're being left behind. The final results are what people are looking for and so many find that we are consistent in delivering those results. So many in fact that we are booked out as far as we've ever been. Strip is not for everyone but neither is FUE.

I feel that the ones being left behind are the clinics that not only fail to embrace larger sessions and appropriately dense packing but try to explain it away with FUD (fear, uncertainty and doubt). The only exception to this are the nationally marketed clinics that you see on late night television. They'll always be around.

Ender,

I knew it. Have you read the whole series or just the one book? If memory serves there are at least five books in the series. I've read them all but arguably the first is the best.
